The Arabian Billionaire, Book One: Arabian Seduction Page 4
“Relax,” he told her. He could see that she was starting to panic.
“I'm fine,” she said coldly. He was not surprised by her tone. Unintentionally, Josie relaxed like she was told.
He didn't say anything. They walked into the meeting room. Josie felt even more nervous; they were all men. They looked important too in their expensive suits. The sheikh seemed to be younger than the other men.
Josie was afraid that she would mess everything up. She took a deep breath. I can do this, she thought to herself. She smiled and sat down. She was sure to pay attention to everything during the meeting. She did not want to be asked a question and be caught off guard.
The sheikh started talking about the project they had been working on together. Josie watched how he worked the room. Everyone paid attention to him, and they all seemed to respect him. Some of them fear him. He really was in his element. Josie unintentionally looked at his chest. His shirt was not too tight, but you could tell that he was muscular. His shoulders were broad and his biceps—Josie stopped herself. She was in an oil meeting; this was not the time to be analyzing his body. The sheikh asked her to join in explaining the new barrels. Josie felt nervous and really didn't want to speak, but she went with it. She stood up and looked as confident as she could. She explained the benefits of using the new barrels. To her surprise everyone listened to her. They took turns asking her questions.
“It sounds like a good idea,” one man said to her. The others agreed.
Josie felt relieved when the meeting ended. The businessmen shook her hand as they left. Some of them spoke to the sheikh and praised Josie. They found her to be bright and intelligent. “She's very polite,” one of them said. Not to me, the sheikh said to himself, but then again it was him who was infuriating her.
Josie sighed with relief when they got into the lift. The meeting had finally ended. She never liked presentations in university. Presenting important information in a meeting was scary, but luckily all went well.
“You did well,” the sheikh said to her. Josie stared at him wide-eyed. She was surprised. He was actually saying something nice to her.
“So did you,” she replied.
“I always do well.”
And we're back to the arrogance, Josie's subconscious complained. The lift doors opened, and Josie walked out. Her shoe got caught on the edge of the door. She lost her balance. Oh shit, Josie! her subconscious shouted. Josie closed her eyes and let out a squirm. As she was falling backward, she felt an arm wrap around her waist. Out of reflex, she grabbed onto what she could. She opened her eyes and found the sheikh staring back at her. His face was only a few inches away from hers. Her hand was on his chest. It felt really hard.
She felt very light in his arms, the sheikh thought to himself. He had his arm around her, and because of how it was, her chest was heaved up. For the first time he noticed how blessed her chest was. His eyes trailed back to her face, he looked at her beauty spot on her collar bone. He felt an unwanted urge to kiss it. She was breathing heavily causing her chest to rise and drop. He looked at her lips; they looked more appealing. He wanted to release her from his arms, but his arms betrayed him and held her even more tightly.
Josie looked at the sheikh. His expression was very dangerous, and as usual, she could not read his thoughts. She looked at his lips; they looked so soft and luscious. Why did they seem so appealing to her right now? Her breath betrayed her and quickened. Her insides twisted again. She could not move, even though she wanted to get out of there. Her legs felt numb. She moved her eyes and met the sheikh’s. His gaze made her feel pressure in a place where she didn’t want to feel pressure. Something had changed, and yet the two of them remained ever more still.
